In this newsletter we will look at the Community Schemes Ombud Service (CSOS).
CSOS was established by Parliament in October 2016 to ensure proper regulation of the industry and to fulfil the need for inexpensive and quick dispute resolution processes in community schemes.
A Community Scheme means any scheme or arrangement in terms of which there is a shared use of and responsibility for parts of land or buildings.
The Ombud has two functions:
Each community scheme pays a monthy levy to the Ombud Service according to a formula that is set out in the CSOS Act. More information regarding CSOS can be obtained from their website: https://www.csos.org.za/
